Pretense: Protests

Pretense: Protest is one of four compositions commissioned by the Duck Creek Arts Center to accompany Jeffrey Colvin's installation Out of The Loop. Patrons would listen to compositions themed around some of the most prevalent issues to black communities around the world while reading excerpts from Colvin's book Africaville. The hope is that while listening to these looped compositions patrons would draw their own conclusions on how to escape the loop.

The Passing of Chef is another moment from Triple Threat. At this moment James is searching for help while also fighting the stigma of being a drug addict. The more he searches the more his world becomes a nightmare. It is during this phase of his journey that his friend Chef dies of an overdose.

The AA Meetings

The AA Meetings are a moment from Triple Threat where James' mother realizes she has to let James go if he is to ever find healing. The moment also honors some of James' friends and fellow addicts. Some are alive and sober some have passed on.

Wetsuit Guy

Wetsuit Guy comes from the short play "Grown-ASS Luis" . We meet this character in Luis' dreams where he insists Louis must grow up so that he can reconcile the deep sadness caused by passing of Louis' father.
